28A Exit Strategy

1. I intend to grow my company with one product and then once a healthy revenue is attained I will begin releasing new products. I do also intend on selling it at some point so I will be releasing quality products to make my name known and then sell for a high price and move on to the next venture from there. 2. I don't see being a business owner as a long-term thing I'd like to do, I'd rather grind hard for a couple of years and then work on less demanding tasks after that to settle down. 3. I believe the other decisions I've made in my venture have actually influenced my exit strategy rather than the other way. I've now seen that the entrepreneurship lifestyle is risky and I'm not willing to take that risk all the time.

27A Reading Reflection

Steve Jobs, By Walter Isaacson What surprised me the most, was how raw some of the interviews were. Steve Jobs wanted to be brutally honest in these interviews and gave himself no control over what be put in the book. He was a hard worker and sometimes drove co-workers crazy because of this. Driven by demons, Jobs could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple’s hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values. What inspired you to begin innovating? Do you ever regret sacrificing relationships to be as successful as you were? An exercise I'd make based off this reading is to think of an everyday object we use, such as a door way. Now come up with a more creative version of it.

26A Celebrating Failure

I am currently taking Calculus 2 and started the semester off decently with C's and B's but I got a little too confident and didn't study as much as I should've for Exam 3. That test grade was low enough to bring my grade down to a D in the class since over 80% of my grade is just the exams. What I learned from this is that, I always have to have my foot on the gas when it comes to STEM classes. I can't let myself be too confident and always have to strive to do better each test. Failure can be discouraging especially when the lesson to learn isn't easy to find. But if you take your time and study your failure, you can find your mistakes and figure out how to fix it in the future.

25A What's Next

The next steps to take are acquiring more materials and begin marketing In all interviews, the prototypical customers said the next step was to begin marketing. Since the products technology exists it's possible someone else can come up with the same idea so I need to jump on it. In terms of growth I must first start with an aggressive marketing plan to get my product on the map and if I achieve high numbers of orders I will begin looking into a manufacturing company so orders can be made in a timely fashion.

24A Venture Concept

Venture Concept Opportunity Many people still drive cars that lack certain modern technologies newer vehicles come equipped with. Thus, making them easier targets for theft as most people know they aren’t as secure. With this in mind I would describe the market, geographically speaking, is for the most part anywhere in America but specifically areas with higher crime rates. Demographically, I would describe the market as anyone who drives older vehicles, so this is typically new drivers in middle to lower class families as well as of middle to lower class civilians who have yet to upgrade to later models. As of now drivers just remember to lock their doors and keep with good habits to prevent petty theft. Most users prefer this method as it requires no installation and no money however they understand that sometimes they forget to lock their doors and that could be when something of value is stolen. Keeping this in mind, I do not see this opportunity as a huge one...

23A Ventures Unfair Advantage

10 Resources / Capital Industry Expert Market Expert Domain Expert Coding Knowledge Investors Modeled business plan for ease of entry to market Prototype Working prototype Personal experience Friends and Family investors Most of my resources can be attained by other entrepreneurs but they won't help them as much as they're going to help me. For example, a working prototype especially helps in my case because I am creating a product with my own two hands. Which tends to make investors or buyers weary, but if I can show them what I've made in action it sets me far above the bar.

Reading Reflection No. 2

The Wright Brothers  By David McCullough  Growing up as a kid I was always fascinated by machines whether it was airplanes, spaceships, or construction equipment. So hearing about the first people to invent the airplane was pretty cool. Now I admire the Wright brothers for their resilience and determination. The Wright brothers, like I said above, were extremely determined. They had many failures when building the first flying machine yet deep down they knew they could do it and never stopped trying. I was quite amazed by how the Wright brothers were originally just bicycle mechanics. What gave you the idea to fly? & Did you know from the start you'd succeed? I believe the Wright Brothers see hard work as never giving up regardless of the number of failures. I can agree with this fully, in martial arts we always talk about perseverance and determination and working towards your goals regardless of the circumstances, and the Wright Brothers follow that same philosoph...

20A Growing your Social Capital

Industry Expert Matthew Bartley- Family Friend Matthew has a strong engineering background and uses his knowledge to fuel his expansion as a mechanic. He is constantly making new parts for cars and doesn't just do repairs. He focuses on turning mediocre cars into next level performance vehicles. Having a friend so proficient with cars will help me enhance my products to fit different manufacturers more effectively, and he will also see problems in his daily work that I may expand upon and make products to help him with.   Market Expert Cynthia Leon- Friend of a friend Cynthia works for a local company in Jacksonville that manufactures replacement parts for cars and motorcycles. I called her a while ago when I had my initial idea to get her opinion on easiest marketplace entry and have asked for help occasionally since then. By including Cynthia in my business scheme I will always have a reliable friend for advice, and in return we will share ideas and they may sell my ...

19A Idea Napkin

My name is Gavin Miles. Being apart of the innovations academy, I am always looking for opportunities to make my life easier. If this business concept evolves and enters the marketplace I see myself living a fruitful life and expanding on this idea and many others I have. My product is a key fob that will automatically lock your car doors once you leave but will not lock them in the car ever. This product is geared towards people driving older cars that lack modern day technology that so many of the cars have out of production now. It is a cheap way for users to bring their car to the modern era and reap the benefits as such. This product will prevent petty theft and also prevent locking your keys in your car. All products will be hand built and hand programmed unlike many other technologies nowadays, and by using cheap yet efficient products I will be able to sell it for a reasonable price and still make profit.
