16A What's Your Secret Sauce

Reasons why my human capital is unique... I have a unique background in innovation and the products being used I've been on the same side as the people I'm selling my product too I'll be creating a useful modification for older cars that isn't ridiculously overpriced Not only do I know the products I'm using but I know the cars too so installation will be quicker and cheaper I am a hard worker and will solve any problem that arises in a timely manner Interviews When asked "What makes me different?" this is how they responded... "Gavin has a very creative mindset backed up by a strong intellect, allowing him to solve issues in a unique way and most times a more efficient way. He's always been able to locate all issues and run through solutions in his head quickly in order to narrow down the possible solution." -Mother "Gavin is a hard worker, we raised him that way. Whether it was on the football field, in the classroo...

15A Figuring Out Buyer Behavior

With all my interviewee's I asked them to . think of solutions to car theft issues because of doors being left unlocked. Without failure all of them first said the obvious answer was to just remember to lock their doors and park on safer areas. Taking this answer I figured their decision making was based off of price and ease of access. So I then asked would they be willing to buy a product for to help stop theft. They all said yes but, it'd have to be after several theft cases before they felt the need. When asked where they would go purchase something of this nature, their first thoughts were to just buy a new key fob for their car and get it re-programmed at the dealership or some other shop carrying out the same tasks. Since re-programming key fobs can be more expensive than it seems they typically feel like they wasted money on something that could've been fixed with a habit change. Most people I interview seem most concerned about price with this type of issue,...

14A Half-Way point

To keep up with this course all I've needed to do is have better time management skills. I've created a strict schedule to follow for the remainder of the semester that gives me the best chance for success in all my classes and outside goals. For this class I've never felt like giving up but I am also taking Calculus II right now and bombed the first exam which didn't sit well with me. I knew I'd have to do better if I wanted to stay in the class. I kept a positive attitude as it was only the first exam and I'll have 3 more to prove myself. Create reminders to do the work on time? & If you have extra free time, try to work ahead in the class and with your idea? & Don't think of the assignments as busy work because then you'll gain nothing from it?

13A Reading Reflection

The Wright Brothers  By David McCullough  Growing up as a kid I was always fascinated by machines whether it was airplanes, spaceships, or construction equipment. So hearing about the first people to invent the airplane was pretty cool. Now I admire the Wright brothers for their resilience and determination. The Wright brothers, like I said above, were extremely determined. They had many failures when building the first flying machine yet deep down they knew they could do it and never stopped trying. I was quite amazed by how the Wright brothers were originally just bicycle mechanics. What gave you the idea to fly? & Did you know from the start you'd succeed? I believe the Wright Brothers see hard work as never giving up regardless of the number of failures. I can agree with this fully, in martial arts we always talk about perseverance and determination and working towards your goals regardless of the circumstances, and the Wright Brothers follow that same philos...

12A Figuring out Buyer Behavior

Segment:  Old Ones / Broken Need Awareness In all the interviews I had with people experiencing the same need as I, they realized they needed it when they were in unfamiliar areas, off track of their normal schedule, or when they only had to grab something from the car quickly.  Information Speech Typically because it such a miniscule task they usually just try form a good habit and don't do much research. But a lot of the people I interviewed said they usually locked their doors and only forget when they are not on their game that day so it'd be nice to have some insurance for days you're forgetful. They might research for products such as mine or look at new key fobs or even new cars that already automatically lock. Conclusion My product appears to be one of those things you don't need until you do. You never think of having a device to automatically lock your doors if nothing is ever stolen out of your car. However, theft is quite common, I alone ha...

11A Idea Napkin

I am a an Innovation Academy student at UF and have spent some time learning about programming and Arduino. I plan to use Arduino microcontrollers with my current product so the couple semesters of experience will be helpful. I hope to sell this product as a DIY kit as it is not too complex and test the market before I move on from there. I am offering a device that locks your car doors automatically once you get out of range of your car this way you won't have to worry about valuables inside or locking your keys in the car. My target audience is very vague right now, as it is just individuals with old cars. As I conduct more interviews and do more research it may shift dependent on where they live, and possibly even what type of car. All of my customers forget to lock their car doors often and because of this lose valuables often from their car. My product would stop that. Most car products are made for newer vehicles as more and more people are buying new cars, which means ...
