9A Testing the Hypothesis
Who:
My target audience is people who drive older vehicles and either forget to lock their doors or can't lock them from far away. I talked to a family friend who works at a Honda dealership to see if they'd be interested in the product and being able to sell it to stubborn customers who'd rather keep their old carthan get a new one. But, it appears their sales team is too prideful and thinks they can sell those customers new cars and don't need my product.
What:
In this day and age everything is becoming easier, people are becoming generally lazier, people need technology to survive now. But you need money to buy technology that makes your life easier. My product becomes a need for those looking to make their lives easier at a cheap cost. In my interviews several people discussed that the product had a niche need but an overall want. Telling me it only is "NEEDED" by a select group of people / businesses.
Why:
People inside of the boundary have this need because they drive older vehicles and live in lesser areas of town, the people outside of the boundary do not have this need because they've made the switch to better technology at a larger price and have no need for my add-on.
Inside The Boundary:
Who: Individuals who drive older vehicles, are forgetful, live in lesser areas of town.
What: The need is a product that keeps your valuables safe automatically.
Why: Older cars that lack technology are still used.
Outside The Boundary:
Who: Individuals who drive late model vehicles equipped with similar functions already.
What: The need is not a product for newer vehicles
Why: New cars have already been equipped with such functions and don't require this upgrade.
Summary
My findings were consistent with my original findings that only individuals with older cars need this product.

Hello Gavin,
ReplyDeleteI found your observations on our target audience to be very intriguing. Your product is definitely one that could really help people with older cars, however, it is not an absolute necessity. Nevertheless, that should not matter since it is one that customers would actually buy. I also found it interesting how you locked down who you would and would not be able to sell this product to as a button key has been implemented into most recent ca models.
Hello Gavin,
ReplyDeleteI love the opportunity you chose. It is a great idea and I believe that many people will be interested in purchasing something like this. However, after interviewing people, it is clear that there are dealerships and people opposed to selling your product. You also have people with new cars who already have their vehicle equipped with similar technology.
